Areas of Expertise/Research interest :

Transcript profiling of salt and drought stress in crop plants and cloning-characterization of stress related genes. Plant tissue culture and Agrobacterium mediated transformation of crop plants.

He did PhD in Life Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2010 and worked as a research associate in ICGEB and JNU (2010-12). He received young scientist travel award by DST and 1st poster awarded in Indo-US workshop.

Publications: Clustered metallothionein genes are co-regulated in rice and overexpression of OsMT1e confers multiple abiotic stress tolerance via ROS scavenging: BMC Plant Biology (2012) (doi: 10.1186/1471-2229-12-107); Analysis of a salinity induced BjSOS3 protein from Brassica indicate it to be structurally and functionally related to its ortholog from Arabidopsis: Plant Physiol Biochem 49(9):996-1004. (2011); Cloning, structural and expression analysis of OsSOS2 in contrasting cultivars of rice under salinity stress: Genes, Genomes, Genomics :(2010).
