The Department of Teacher Education under the School of Education is presently offering B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc.B.Ed., M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Education programmes. The department aims to constructively transform Teacher Education in India through quality interventions in the form of academic programmes, rigorous researches, field studies, innovative projects and other educational activities. With qualified faculties and rich infrastructural facilities, the department aspires to create a pool of committed professionals who can constructively contribute in the educational advancement of our Nation and to grow as a Centre of Excellence for Teacher Education in the country.

Programmes:

Four-Year Integrated B.A.B.Ed. Programme
The Four-year Integrated Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)–Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme is an undergraduate professional degree programme which is consist of total eight semesters comprising teaching-learning, field visit, internship etc. The Programme is designed to develop teaching competence among students with subjects like History, Political Science, Economics, Languages along with language proficiency for better communication skills.

Four-Year Integrated B.Sc.B.Ed. Programme
The ‘Four-year Integrated Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) – Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme is an undergraduate professional degree programme which is consist of total eight semesters comprising teaching-learning, field visit, internship etc. The Programme is designed to develop teaching competence among students with subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Animal Science, and Plant Science along with language proficiency for better communication skills.

M.Ed. Programme
M.Ed. is a two-year post-graduate professional degree programme for advanced study in the field of Teacher Education which aims at preparing quality teacher educators and other educational professionals including educational policy analysts, planners, experts etc. The programme offers a comprehensive overview of ‘Education’ embedded in the foundational disciplines of Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology; and, detailed study of chosen specialized areas of interest. It also includes advance components of pedagogy in a subject of parent discipline of prospective teacher educator. Since M.Ed. is also a degree leading to research in education, the course has a strong research component which includes dissertation writing. The completion of programme shall lead to M.Ed. degree with different specializations.

Ph.D. (Education) Programme
The Ph.D. (Education) Programme aims to develop a deep understanding of research, public policies and educational practices, and the relationships among them. As preliminary part of this programme, a rigorous Course work is compulsory which will help in building foundational understanding of research in the Ph.D. scholars so that they can be prepared as a cadre of professionals who can develop specialized knowledge in various areas of Education.
