Five days national workshop on Teaching through Fine Arts at CUSB

 

A five-day national workshop on the topic ‘Pedagogy and Assessment through Project Based Learning and Teaching through Fine Arts’ was organised by the School of Education, Central University South Bihar at Gaya during May 22 – 26, 2017. On the first day, programme was started with lighting the lamp and floral tribute. The dignitaries on the dais and the participants of the programme were welcomed by Prof. Rekha Agrawal, Dean  & Head, School of Education, CUSB. The theme of the national workshop was introduced by Dr. Jintendra Kumar, coordinator of the workshop. He highlighted the aims and objectives of the seminar and also gave a brief plan of the workshop. The chief guest Prof. Prabhat Kumar Singh, Dean, School of Language and Literature, CUSB, as given the valuable thought regarding teaching through Fine Arts and said that the teaching is also Art. He gave several exemplars how different techniques of fine arts could be used in class room teaching and assessment.

In first technical session, Mrs. Swati Gupta delivered her wide presentation with the help of power point presentation on Project Based Learning. She explained project based learning in detail. She said that PBL is using from a long time in Indian Education system. Now it is the responsibility of the teacher to incorporate project based learning in their class accordingly. In next presentation Mrs. Chandra Prabha Pandey delivered a lecture on process of Project Based Learning. She elaborated that project based learning a systematic process. Each and every step of project based learning is quite important and having their own significance. A teacher should follow these steps carefully so that pre-decided objectives could be achieved. This session was chaired by Dr. Kusum Sharma and co-chaired by Dr. Tapan Kumar Basantia. 

In second and last session of the workshop a versatile presentation given by Dr. Kavita Singh on Teaching through Fine arts. During her lecture she shows several video and audio clips of different fine arts techniques. She visualize that all most every subject could be taught through fine arts. Extensive discussions were made how a teacher can create fun and knowledge with the help of fine arts tools and techniques. This session was chaired by Dr. Sandeep Gupta and co-chaired by Ms. Sunila Athley. After the discussions subject wise groups formed to develop modules on different subject and topics. 

The fifth and last day of workshop started with comprehensive deliberation of Prof. Rekha Agarwal, Dean, School of Education, CUSB. After her deliberation participants presented their respective modules. In first technical session, Prof. Jyotsana Tiwari and Dr. Shashi Prabha both form NCERT, New Delhi gave their guidance to the participants in development of module. Dr Dushyant Kaur shared her experience regarding innovative and creative efforts in school education. 

Inaugural session was chaired by CUSB Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Om Prakash Rai, who in his address said that today is the era of ICT. With the help of ICT a teacher can do many things to inculcate values and creativity in students. Summary of the five-day workshop was presented by Dr. Jitendra Kumar, while Dr. Tapan Kumar Basantia gave vote of thanks to all participants and others.  

Meanwhile, the participants expressed happiness over the deliberations of the workshop and the overall content presented by the experts. During the five-day workshop the faculty members also shared their views, which included Prof. Kaushal Kihore, Dr. Tapan Kumar Basantia, Dr. Ravi Kant, Dr. Rinki, Dr. Mitanjali Sahoo, Dr. Ravindra Kumar, Mr. Manish Kumar Gautam, Kishor Kumar, Md. Mozammil Hassan, Mr. Ram Awadh, Ms. Amrita Singh, Ms. Reena Sinha.
