CUSB celebrated birthday of Major Dhyan Chand as National Sports Day
With dedication and persistent efforts of countrymen especially youths, India can regain the crown of “ Golden Nightingale “ again. Need of the hour is that the youths should strike a balance between quality education and sports activities, and surely India can be a prosperous nation in all aspects, said CUSB Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Om Prakash Rai, on Wednesday August 29, 2018. In his opening remark he focused on the importance of Sports spirit and enhancing the sports culture among the youths.
the University celebrated the National Sports Day with pomp and gaiety. In order to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary hockey player of India renowned “Magician of Hockey” celebrated across the country as National Sports Day various activities were organised at the University campus.
On this day the Games and Sports committee of the University organised a “Mini Marathon” enthusiastically participated by over 250 students (both boys and girls). Earlier the day started with oath taking ceremony administered by the Pro Vice-Chancellor in which the participants vowed to give special attention to sports in their life. Further the marathon was organized in association with FICCI and All Indian Universities. Pro-VC of University Prof. OP Rai flagged off the marathon by waving the green flag.
At last five top runners from boys and girls group were given trophies by the Pro VC. In the girls category Jyoti Kumari (BA BEd – 1st Semester), Deepu Kumari (M.Ed. – Ist Semester), Shivani Smriti (B.Sc. B.Ed. – 1st Semester), Suchi Sinha (M.Ed. – 1st Semester), Smriti Rani (M.A Psychology – 1st Semester) were first, second, third, fourth and fifth position holders respectively. In the boys category the top five performers position wise were Sharavan Kumar (B.Sc. B.Ed. – 1st Semester), Shubham Kumar Ranjan (B.Sc. B.Ed. – 1st Semester), Ravi Kumar (B.Sc. B.Ed. – 1st Semester), Lucky Kumar (B.Sc. B.Ed. – 5th Semester) and Keshav Prakash (B.A. L.L.B – 1st Semester).
The chairperson of the Sports Committee of the University Dr. Samapika Mohapatra pointed out the relevance of Physical Literacy in current scenario. Dr. Mohapatra demanded to celebrate the 12th February as Physical Literacy Day every year in University Campus.
Dr. Prashant, Member of the Sports Committee presented the Vote of Thanks for this successful event. Prof. Rekha Agrawal, Dean of Education Department, Prof. Kaushal Kishore, Proctor, Dr. Sanat Kumar Sharma, DSW, Mr. Atish Das, and Dr. Shashikant Singh both Member of Sports Committee, graceD the occasion by their presence.
