Five-day workshop on INFLIBNET at CUSB

 

A five-day workshop on the topic “INFLIBNET Regional Training Programme in Library Automation (IRTPLA) was organized by the Central Library of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) during December 3-7, 2018. In the inaugural function chief guest Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Singh, Librarian, Allahabad University said that the library is like heart of any University or institution, which plays an important role in empowering students, researchers, people associated with academics. The collection of books and information available disseminated through the library altogether ensure the growth and development of any nation. Such workshops are very beneficial where the participants can discuss the new ideas and technological innovation happened in the area of library. Further,  Prof. Prabhat Kumar Singh, Registrar (Acting) of Central University of South Bihar in his presidential address said that the historical literatures, books and manuscripts are quite significant for the generations to come over the centuries-and-centuries, and documenting them with proper care is equally an important job. The western countries have been very attentive towards storage of historical documents particularly written literature, and they are doing this very efficiently since ages by empowering their library. 

Prof. O.P. Rai, Pro Vice-Chancellor of CUSB while talking about Human Resource Management insisted that emotional bonding between users and library staff is a mandatory component to establish a good library. Speaking as the main speaker (resource person) of fifth and final day, Prof. A. P. Singh, Library and Information Science department, Banaras Hindu University said it is need of the hour that the five principles of Professor Ranganathan about the Library Science practiced with sincerity. Giving special attention on the fifth principle of Prof. Ranganathan may be quite beneficial in today’s context and it can be disseminated with the use of social media and social networking websites, added Prof. Singh

During the five-day workshop the participants from various colleges / institutions of Bihar were given first hand training about the software used in libraries.  Team of experts from INFLIBNET Mr. Abhishek Kumar (Scientist C) and his colleagues Mr. Kumar Gaurav and Mr. Anir Manjhi interacted with participants and trained them about automation, digitisation and robotisation.  Participants also get to know about the Soul 2.0 software installation, its practical aspects and usages. Dr. Gulnawaz Azam, Assistant Librarian, CUSB had given training on DBM, DNS, IP Address and Network protocol utilised in library.

 CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Harish Chandra Singh Rathore during the valedictory session said that the University is altogether a unique entity in itself and library is like its heart. A good library and well-behave staff apart from distributing books, can play a big role in development of positive mind-set among the users especially youths. With high hope, Prof. Rathore said that the staff of CUSB library would work with similar zeal and enthusiasm, so that users can emotionally attach themselves with the library and enhance their level of knowledge and skills. 

At the end of session Dr. Md. Gulnawaz Azam, Assistant Librarian (CUSB) given vote of thanks to the participants from Chanakya National Law University (Patna), NIT Patna, Magadh University. He also expressed his gratitude to CUSB Librarian Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh, Deputy Librarian Dr. Pankaj Mathur, Professional Assistant Mr. Arshad Ali, Virdendra Kumar Shukla, Amarjeet Kumar Singh, Devendra Kumar Mishra, Jityaditya Jana, Snehlata Shaw, Aakansha, Kuldeep Kumar and PRO Md. Mudassir Alam for giving their valuable contribution for conducting the workshop successfully.
