Seven students of CUSB get Gandhi fellowship

Continuing the excellent performance in campus placement this year, many students of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has succeeded in grabbing the prestigious Gandhi Fellowship for 2016-18. CUSB’s Public Relation Officer (PRO) cum Placement Cell Coordinator Md. Mudassir Alam said that seven students have qualified for fellowship which include, Wali Shabina, Vijendra Dubey, Aprajita Pathak, Kumari Komal, Ravi Prakash Gupta, Anjali Pandey and Anu Bharti. Besides, two more students Anurag Kumar Mishra and Abhinav Kumar are in waitlist, which would be hopefully cleared, said the PRO. The selection process comprising of written test and interview was conducted by

Gandhi Fellowship team on March 10, which was attended by approximately two dozen students. Providing more information about the fellowship, the PRO said that Gandhi Fellowship is offered by Piramal Foundation to the postgraduate students enrolled in various programmes of the University as well as institutions of higher learning. The fellowship programme motto is rooted in the belief that as a nation it is important to develop a cadre of leaders exposed to the complexities of bringing change in social and public systems. As a catalyst for school change, each fellow brings change in 5 schools by being a resource person for the school principals and by potentially impacting the lives of 1,000 children. Fellows assist teachers and identify when and where Headmasters (Principals) need extra support. Fellows interact and work with teachers, community members and education officials towards the goal of creating model schools. Each fellow shall be entitled to an all-inclusive monthly

grant of Rs. 14,000, a fixed monthly phone allowance of Rs. 600 and rent-free accommodation and other allowances as applicable.

Five CUSB students placed in Azim Premji Foundation

Adding another feather in the glory of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) five students get job placement in prestigious Azim Premji Foundation NGO of internationally acclaimed IT firm Wipro. Rajiv Manohar, a student of MA English placed in the organisation along with four students of MSc. Mathematics, namely, Azharuddin, Abhinay Kumar, Avinita Gautam and Pushp Ranjan Singh. The five students shall join as campus associate with Azim Premji Foundation in the month of July-August, 2016. The students have qualified after going through rigorous selection process comprising of written test conducted on 16th March followed by telephonic and personal interviews. A total of 30 students attended the placement activity from three courses, MSc Mathematics, MA English and MSc Life Science. Based on the performance in written test a total of 20 students were selected for telephonic interview which included four from Maths, 11 from Life Science and five from English. The final round of selection was organised in Azim Premji’s Patna office, and finally five students were selected for the job in Wipro’s NGO. The students shall initially get annual package of around Rs. 3.12 lakh along with many other employee welfare benefits such as medical insurance. As per the job offer the students shall undergo training in the guidance of their seniors during one year of probation.


In a big career achievement 12 students of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) get placement in Non-government organisation (NGO) Care India. CUSB Public Relation Officer (PRO) Md. Mudassir Alam, who is also the co-ordinator of Placement Cell said that Care India conducted a job placement camp at University’s Patna campus for recruiting the students as Block Development Manager (BDM) in various locations of Bihar. The students selected as BDM include Saima Tauheed, Shweta Surbhi, Ravi Prakash Gupta, Shivam Rastogi, Surjeet Goyal and Vijendra Dube, all for Mass Communication, five students from Environmental Sciences namely, Priyanka Kumari, Nitu Kumari, Anuksha, Ramanand and Faiz Siddiqui, and Arya Bharti from Development Studies.

After going through written test and interview, a total of twelve students qualified for the position including six girls and six boys. The selected students shall be given a monthly salary of Rs. 25,000/- along with PF, Medical Insurance and Accident Insurance, etc. The role of block development manager is to implement the projects of the NGO as well as continuous monitoring and evaluating the same. The placement camp was organised under the supervision of Mr. Sujeet Kumar, Assistant Professor and Placement Coordinator of Centre for Mass Communication and Media Studies. The students of Mass Communication, Development Studies,

Environmental Studies and Psychology programmes appeared in the placement activity. A six member team of Care India visited CUSB for holding the campus placement activity featuring Progamme Manager Jaimon Thomas and Dr. Ravindra Kumar Sharma, District level officer Swayam Prakash Pandey, Amarjeet Prabhakar, Shashi Ranjan and Anshu from HR department.
