PhD (Immunotoxicology, Jamia Hamdard University,New Delhi)
Areas of Expertise/Research interest :
Cellular Therapy, Immunomodulation, Stem Cell Differentiation, Discovery Proteomics etc.
Dr. Rizwanul Haque received postdoctoral training at Penn State college of Medicine, Hershey, PA, USA. He has received Ph.D. degree (Immunotoxicology) and M. Sc. (Biochemistry) from Jamia Hamdard University, and B.Sc. (Biochemistry) from Aligarh Muslim University. Dr. Haque has got specialized training in lung research after post-graduation from VPCI, University of Delhi.
In recent years, Dr. Haque has extended his research interests in immunological research particularly on stem cells to treat immune mediated diseases. Currently, Dr. Haque is involved in the generation of immune cells from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) and Embryonic Stem (ES) cells which can be used for adoptive immunotherapy and likely to contribute toward treatments of cancers of the blood leukemia and lymphoma, asthma and autoimmune diseases. The use of iPS as a means to develop disease specific immune cells for immunotherapy has a possible application in prevention of many diseases.
Recently, for the first time Dr. Haque has reported that T lineage cells can be generated from iPS cells which have been published in Cellular Immunology. This breakthrough research is very important for developing therapeutic immune cells since it provides a potential treatment target for patients. Dr. Haque has made significant contributions to the area of stem cell, lung biology, proteomics, immunomodulation and T cell based therapy, which is evident from his publication records in a variety of top class scientific journals including Journal of Immunology, Cancer Research, Cellular Immunology, Proteome science, Respiratory Research, Cellular Molecular Immunology, International Immunopharmacology etc.
Dr. Haque’s research publications are cited more than 800 times by other research groups all over the world which shows high international recognition of his work and has very high impact in the area of immunology, stem cell and lung research etc. Dr. Haque served as a co-investigator in major grants funded by American Society of Cancer and from several other organizations in USA and has filed two patents. He has received several awards such as American Association of Immunologist to travel Japan and California and was invited to present seminar at different universities to present his stem cells and discovery proteomics work. He was recognized as best postdoctoral fellow in 2009 and received several other awards from CSIR, CCRUM, Bharat Seva trust etc. Dr. Haque served as an adhoc reviewer in several journals such as Journal of Life Sciences, Journal of Diabetes and its Complications, Food and Chemical Toxicology etc. and he has been associated with a number of reputed Scientific Societies like American Lung Association, American Association of Immunology, Inflammation Research Association and Society of Leukocytes Biology etc.
