Dr. Mahender Khatravath
Ph.D. (Synthetic Organic Chemistry), University of Hyderabad, India
Areas of Expertise/Research interest:
Specialization in medicinal chemistry program.
Dr. Mahender Khatravath was born and brought from Mahabubnagar district of Telangana state from India, he did his M.Sc. Organic chemistry from Osmania university in 2010. And later on he joined in professor Prabhat Arya group in 2011 at the Dr. Reddy's Institute of Life Sciences (DRILS), an associate institute of the University of Hyderabad. Where he was actively involved in the synthesis of natural products inspired hybrid macrocycles for development of new candidates for the treatment of cancer disease. During in his doctoral studies he worked on the synthesis of C1-C13 and C14-C21 fragments of Eribulin. Eribulin is a synthetic analogue of halichondrin, which was approved by FDA for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. After PhD, he was awarded DST-SERB-National post-doctoral fellowship in 2016, and joined under the supervision of Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy at National Chemical Laboratory (Pune), to work on natural product called anthracimycin which is an active agent against the Bacillus anthracis. In 2017 he moved to Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (Hyderabad) where he worked with Dr. Ch. Raji Reddy as a post-doctoral fellow to work on development of new synthetic methodologies for pyridine derivatives. After post-doctoral studies he joined in Transcell Oncologics Pvt.Ltd, as a research scientist where he was actively involved in the medicinal chemistry program for the identification of new leads for the undruggable targets (K-RAS, C-myc, and Wnt). Dr. Mahender Khatravath is joined as a assistant professor at the deportment chemistry (CUSB). And his research interests are synthesis of bio-active natural products, development of new synthetic methodologies, and more passionate to undertake projects at the interface of modern Organic Synthesis and Chemical Biology.
