Areas of Expertise/Research interest:
Contemporary Literary and Cultural Theory, Contemporary British Fiction, especially from the Thatcher Years to the present, Postcolonial Studies, Contemporary South Asian Fiction, and Indian Writings in English.
Work experience: Sunil Kumar is an assistant professor of English at the Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. For his doctoral dissertation, he worked on the research topic “The True Lies of Historical Imagination: Counterfactual Resonances in the Fiction of Julian Barnes and Salman Rushdie.” Before joining the CUSB, he worked as a sessional faculty at various institutes such as Akal University, Talwandi Sabo; Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi; and the Regional Institute of English, Chandigarh. Besides, during his PhD, he also taught in various short-term modules of UGC-NET at The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. His areas of academic interest include Contemporary Literary and Cultural Theory; Contemporary British Fiction, especially from the Thatcher years to the present; Postcolonial Studies; Intellectual History; and World Literature. He has published six research papers in these areas in reputed national and international journals. He also holds interest in Indian Writings in English, Visual Culture, and Indian Intellectual Traditions.
