Webinar on "Indian Olympic Journey - A Way to TOPS”
In order to commemorate the success of Tokyo Olympics, the Department of Physical Education of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) organized a one-day National Webinar on the topic “Indian Olympic Journey-a Way to TOPS”. The webinar was aimed at generating awareness about Olympics scheme TOPS among participants.
CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh emphasized on making physical activities as a way of life and motivated the department to organize activities for the students and staff on a regular basis. In his address he marked that holistic development is possible only with the help of regular physical activities.
Dr. Ashish Kumar Singh, HoD of Physical Education, welcomed all the guests and participants and briefed about TOPS. Chief Guest Prof. Abhimanyu Singh, Former Head of Department BHU, talked about the importance of TOPS for increasing the numbers of medals in Olympic and Paralympics. He also stressed on identifying and nurturing talent at an initial level can take Indian athletes to next heights. He also congratulated the department for taking up such a relevant topic for the webinar.
Another speaker of the webinar Prof. A. K. Sinha Director, BRCM group of institutions presented facts and figures of Indian Olympic journey. He presented the medal tally before and after the implementation of TOPS and monetary support associated with each scheme.
The webinar was coordinated by Associate Professor of the Department Dr. Usha Tiwari. Technical aspect of the webinar was taken care by Assistant Prof. of the department Dr. Rahul Singh, Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh Assistant Professor and Dr. J.P. Singh Assistant Director Physical Education and members of Sports committee. Vote of thanks was proposed by organising secretary, Assistant Professor Dr. M. Meru.
