CUSB observes Azaadi 70 – Pakhwada during August 9 - 23, 2016

As per the directives of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and University Grants Commission (UGC) the University observed the fifteen days pakhwada Azaadi 70 – Yaad Karo Qurbani pakhwada (Independence Day fortnight – remember the sacrifice) at its Patna and Gaya campuses during August 09 - 23, 2016. The pakhwada ended on August 23 with the group singing of National Anthem ‘Jan Gan Mana’ at both the campuses. On the final day of pakhwada, the Vice-Chancellor led the group singing of national anthem at 11 AM in Patna campus which was attended by the students along with officers, faculty members and staff. After the national anthem in his address to gathering the Vice-Chancellor said that we are proud and fortunate to be Indian citizens. Being the citizen of India a big responsibility comes on our shoulders, hence we should try to be a good human being by following the policy of honesty. Whether we are students, working class or teachers we should always think for the country and work for the betterment of the country. Specifically addressing the students Prof. Rathore said that they should focus themselves on studies to achieve their goals in lives. If they succeed in achieving the goals with their focussed approach, it would not just be a big achievement for them or their families, in fact it would be a major contribution to the country and a true patriotism, added the VC.

The 15 days fortnight celebrations were organised at Patna under the supervision of University’s Cultural Committee which comprised of Co-ordinator Dr. Anindya Deb, and other members namely, Dr. Amrita Shrivastav, Dr. Ravi Suryavanshi and Dr. Tara Kashav. The activities organised during the pakhwada were Visit to local smarak (place of historical importance), Essay writing competition (English language) on the topic ‘My concept of Freedom in Contemporary India”, Debate competition on the topic ‘Is Mutual Dialogue the correct approach for resolving inter-boundary dispute with Pakistan?’ and writing the “Biographies of Patriotic icons whom you admire and why?” competition.

Similarly at Gaya, Dr. Samapika Mohapatra , Head ,Centre for Development Studies was nominated as the Coordinator of the entire celebration programme. During the 15 days period various programmes were scheduled and organized for the students under the supervision of Cultural Committee - Dr. Anil Kumar Singh Jha as its Coordinator, Dr. Anuj Lugun, Dr. Rinki , Dr. Pradip Kumar Das as its members. Activities organised at Gaya included Eloquence competition ( both English & Hindi ) on the topic “The role of youth in Nation Building”, Skit ( Nukaad Natak ) & Patriotic Group Dance competitions, Essay writing competition ( English & Hindi ) on the topic “Challenges & its solutions in Contemporary Indian society”, Poster Making Competition and Poem Writing Competition.
