CUSB celebrates International Peace Day

Central University if South Bihar (CUSB) organised a series of programmes on the occasion of ‘International Peace Day’ celebrated worldwide on September 21, 2016 at its Gaya campus. The programme started in a quite different way by ringing of the ‘Peace Bell’ by the students, faculty members and staff of the University. Then after, the Jury members examined the Posters which were exhibited by the students. Further a panel discussion organised on the theme “World Peace: Need for new Alternative”.

The first speaker Prof. S.N. Singh, Dean of School of Social Science and Policy, focused on the internal peace is necessity rather than outer peace. Speaking on the theme, Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastav, Dean of School of Law of Governance raised the issues with the recent examples that why the Judiciary has become omnipotent and why the individual interest is used as a projection of peace rather than a holistic interpretation. Another speaker Dr. Alok Kr. Gupta, Centre for Political Studies, remarked that “we are living in the age of binary and war is inevitable”. He stated that today the peace has become an illusion and is remained away from us because we never took the right action at a right direction. For peace stability, population, education, media, capitalism and religious conflict should be sustained and look over.

While speaking Prof. Rekha Agarwal, Dean of School of Education, focused on the importance of sacrifice for world peace. Dr. Parijat Pradhan, Department of Sociology led emphasis on character building in the field of education. Dr. Haresh Narayan Pandey, Department of Sociology focused on all perspectives like social science, politics, education etc. Dr. Priyaranjan talked about moral ethics. Dr. Sanat Kumar Sharma, Dean, Student Welfare (DSW) talked about the importance and symbolic significance of Peace Bell. Later on prizes were given to the winners and participant by DSW. At last, vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Abhay Kumar by ringing the Peace Bell. The programme was compared by Ms. Anju Kumari and Ms. Shivani Sinha from Political Science.
