IQAC Report

CUSB has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), as per UGC Guidelines, to implement quality improvement strategies, incorporate self and external evaluation, quality promotion/ sustenance/awareness initiatives. The IQAC was set up in the year 2015; since then, it has taken numerous steps for assessing and enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, research and governance at the University level. IQAC has been proactively engaged in planning and execution of the various academic, administrative measures adopted in its periodic meetings for an overall development of the University. The members took note of the 14 points raised in its recommendations by the Peer Team for the 1st Cycle of NAAC Accreditation. It was resolved that the IQAC shall take initiative to maintain the momentum achieved during the 1st cycle of NAAC Accreditation process and evolve positive strategies for achieving better results during the 2nd Cycle Re-accreditation process sometime in 2021-22. Ideas and inputs for further qualitative improvement based on the same should be obtained from each member of IQAC and a Task Force was formed to discuss and evolve measures for achieving each parameter before the next visit of the NAAC.

The major qualitative achievement can be enumerated as follows:

  1. Academic Updation

IQAC has been steadfast in its resolve to make CUSB as one of the fastest growing central universities and its   aspirations to become a top tier university globally. In pursuit of this the curriculum of CUSB is aligned with the vision, mission and objectives of the university as given in the ordinance published in Gazette notification. As such, academic programmes have been redesigned according to the National Education Policy–2020 to make the higher education more meaningful. ( https://old.cusb.ac.in/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Model-Framework-for-Implementation-of-National-Education-Policy-2020-1.pdf)

The university is committed to improving its teaching, learning and research capabilities further by modifying the syllabus of the offered courses to create a pool of highly skilled workforce capable of dealing holistically with the local, national and global challenges of an ever-changing society. https://old.cusb.ac.in/course-structure-and-syllabus/

The syllabus of offered courses clearly defines the learning objectives and outcomes. The teaching pedagogy and the assessment/ evaluation patterns are accordingly designed and aligned for these courses to fulfill the requirements of these courses in terms of the learning objectives and outcomes. Each programme is defined in terms of credits that reflects the quantum of syllabus and the number of hours of teaching per week. All the programmes have been cast in an interdisciplinary choice-based credit system framework. https://old.cusb.ac.in/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/cbcs_model_ordinance_reg_2018.pdf https://old.cusb.ac.in/programs-courses/ The courses are designed, developed and frequently revised in the light of stakeholder feedback analysis by the departmental committees. Curricula are designed to give an in-depth theoretical and applied knowledge with an empowerment-oriented approach with well-defined Programme Outcomes (POs), Course Outcomes (COs) and contemporary relevance. The multi-disciplinary approach offers an optional basket of courses. The curriculum is designed/regularly updated keeping in view the needs of the various stakeholders involved which include:

  • Aligning the curriculum with the requirements of relevant statutory, regulatory and accreditation bodies like UGC, CSIR, AICTE, NCTE, Pharmacy Council of India, Bar Council of India, etc.
  • Demand of the industry through trend analysis of market demand in new and existing areas
  • Feedback from students, alumni, employees, faculty etc.
  • Suggestion from the members of Board of Studies, and informal feedback from academia and industry
