The department aims to contribute to the advancement of knowledge through production of quality research, and develop critical thinking among students through innovative learning practices that involve skill enhancement, community engagement and exposure to new areas of research in Economics having contemporary relevance to the economy and society.

• Impart knowledge through teaching of alternative approaches and provide training to enhance skills of young minds to carry out empirical and policy oriented research.
• Encourage the students to cross the disciplinary boundary aiming to provide multi-dimensional learning opportunities.
• Construct a conducive environment for theoretical and applied research
