The Department of Physics, within the School of Physical & Chemical Sciences, has been supporting the undergraduate programs at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) since its inception. The M.Sc. degree program in Physics was introduced in the academic session 2018-19, initially enrolling 35 students, a number that was later increased to 45 to meet growing demand. Additionally, the department launched a Ph.D. program in various frontier areas of Physics in the 2020-21 academic-sessions. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the department introduced an UG-PG Integrated program starting in the 2024-25 academic session initially intake of twenty. Furthermore, the Department of Physics implemented the NEP2020 guidelines for the postgraduate program in the 2021-23 academic sessions.

The Department of Physics is dedicated to engaging in high-quality research while striving for excellence in teaching. Its faculty members are actively involved in cutting-edge theoretical and experimental research in diverse and challenging fields. To foster interdisciplinary research aimed at addressing the grand challenges facing society, the department has established both intra-university and inter-institutional collaborations with laboratories in India and abroad.
