The year 2024 concluded with a positive note for Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) at Gaya that is quite encouraging for the University fraternity. In early February the University Grants Commission (UGC) granted Category-1 status to CUSH which was a first for a university in the state. The letter from UGC secretary Mr. Manish R Joshi to CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh says that after examining the CUSB at its 577th meeting on February 13, 2024, the UGC has approved Category-I University status to it in accordance with the provisions of the UGC (Categorisation of Universities (only) for grant of Graded Autonomy) Regulations, 2018”. CUSB was made the Nodal institute for the state of Bihar by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to conduct the Yuva Sangam Phase 5.0, a cultural exchange programme under the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' programme. Under this program 50 youths were selected from Bihar and Karnataka for cultural exchange between states. Along with its paired institute IIT Dharwad the Yuva Sangam 5.0 was successfully conducted by CUSB and the youths got to know about the rich cultural heritage of both the states.

Established in 2009 and received the highest ‘A++’ rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in June 2023 CUSB’s quest for academic excellence and maintaining quality education continued round the year. Altogether 17 students from the School of Law and Governance (SLG) of CUSB passed the 32nd Bihar Judicial Services Examination 2023 conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Keeping in mind the demand of the global competitive market, from this academic year the University launched a Five-year BBA LLB programme with 60 seats that has received a wholesome response from the students.

Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, the faculty members, research scholars and students of the University have displayed excellent performance in academic and extra-curricular activities throughout the year. The brilliant students of CUSB have consistently excelled in studies and have secured good grades, while on the other hand, they have also secured employment opportunities through campus selection, competitive examinations and interviews. This year, seven (07) students of CUSB have received job offers through campus placement in the prestigious Azim Premji Foundation. The successful students have been offered jobs as Campus Associates at a starting package of Rs. 4.32 lakh per annum with other additional benefits like medical assistance, relocation expenses, insurance free loan, group term life insurance. A record number of 22 students from various departments of CUSB got campus placement under the prestigious Gandhi Fellowship of Piramal Foundation, under which successful candidates are given a monthly grant of Rs 25000 - 28000 for two years. Along with this, students have been placed in many other institutions on good packages. Students received fellowship by clearing national level examinations like GATE / JRF / NET etc. Some students presented their papers in international and national level conferences and also won many awards. Along with studies, students also achieved success by giving excellent sports performance in state level and national level sports competitions.

From this academic year (2024-25), the University started 13 new integrated UG-PG programs (courses) at the undergraduate (UG) level in view of the future and career opportunities of the youth. The university started 5-year Integrated UG-PG courses in various subjects namely, Geography, Statistics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Psychology, Political Science and IR, History, Physics in Sociology, Psychology, English, Economics, Commerce and Hindi. Talking about infrastructure, many exquisite buildings have been constructed under the first and second phase of building construction in the green campus spread over 300 acres and the third phase of construction is underway. In view of the achievements of the university so far, Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh along with the entire university family and stakeholders are hopeful that in the future CUSB will set new records with all-round achievements which will be a matter of pride for the entire Bihar.
