The much-anticipated Debating Premier League 5.0 auction commenced with grandeur on February 19, 2025, taking place in Vivekananda Lecture Hall Auditorium setting the stage for the high-voltage Intra Debate competition i.e. Debating Premier League 5.0 scheduled for February 25 to 27, 2025. The entire event was conducted under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Kameshwar Nath Singh, who was also the patron of the event. The event officially started at 1:30 PM, marked by an auspicious ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar, Head and Dean of the School of Law and Governance.
The opening session set the tone for the auction as the audience was briefed on the essence of DPL, a platform where intellect meets strategy, and passion fuels the battle of words. The briefing also included an overview of the auction rules, ensuring a smooth and competitive bidding process. Dr. Pallavi Singh, Faculty Coordinator, welcomed the esteemed guests with her inspiring words and insightful thoughts on the significance of debating. She then invited Prof. Ashok Kumar, whose motivational address resonated deeply with the participants, encouraging them to embrace the spirit of healthy competition and intellectual rigor. His words set the stage for an electrifying event, and with the resounding strike of the gavel, he officially declared the auction open.
Unlike traditional auctions, the selection process was infused with an element of chance and excitement. Sticks were drawn from a jar to determine bidding turns, adding an unpredictable twist to the proceedings. Prof. Ashok Kumar initiated the first draw, setting off a randomized yet intense auction session. Amidst the bidding frenzy, Dr. Kumari Nitu, Faculty at the School of Law and Governance, joined the event to honour the occasion with her presence, adding further prestige to the proceedings. The auction featured a total of 72 debaters vying for a spot on one of the 24 team owners. The event unfolded in two gripping phases. The first was the Professional and Amateur Round, where seasoned debaters showcased their credentials, leading to competitive bidding among team owners. The second was the Beginners’ Round, a platform for emerging debaters to secure their place and prove their mettle in the grand tournament.
With each bid, the atmosphere grew electric, with owners strategically assembling their dream teams. Finally, as the hammer fell for the last time, every team had successfully acquired three debaters, ensuring a balanced mix of experience and fresh talent. The DPL 5.0 auction concluded on a high note, marking the beginning of an exhilarating journey for the teams. The student coordinators and the members of the youth parliament and debating society played a key role in the success of the event. As the countdown to the league begins, the stage is now set for an unforgettable clash of wits, words, and wisdom.

The much-anticipated Debating Premier League (DPL) 5.0 commenced today with an exhilarating inaugural session at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB). The three-day intellectual extravaganza, running from February 25 to 27, 2025, was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kameshwar Nath Singh, Head and Dean of the School of Law and Governance Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar, Faculty Coordinator Dr. Pallavi Singh, and other distinguished faculty members. This edition of DPL features 24 teams, competing in a battle of wits and eloquence. The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. Following this, the dignitaries were felicitated for their contributions and unwavering support towards fostering academic excellence and intellectual engagement. This was followed by the grand unveiling of the trophies by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, setting the stage for an intense and stimulating competition among the brightest debaters.

He stated, “Coming together is the beginning, sitting together is progress, and working together is success.” He emphasized the crucial role of both formal and informal education in shaping well-rounded individuals, highlighting the four pillars of holistic development. Additionally, he underlined the importance of effective communication, coordination, and the inherent strengths of India—its diversity, democracy, and demography. The 5th edition of the much-anticipated Debating Premier League (DPL 5.0) concluded with a spectacular Valedictory Ceremony on 27th February 2025 after three days of intense debate battles. The event, which commenced with an Inaugural Ceremony following the grand Auction on 19th February 2025, witnessed the participation of 24 teams, 72 speakers, and 12 adjudicators. The auction set the stage as team owners and co-owners bid passionately to form their debating squads, setting the tone for an electrifying competition. The entire event was conducted under the guidance of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Kameshwar Nath Singh, who was also the patron of the event.
The debating action kicked off on 25th February 2025, with two high-energy preliminary rounds determining the top contenders. From the initial 24 teams, only 8 teams secured their spots in the Quarter-Finals, along with 8 adjudicators who advanced to this stage. The heat intensified on 26th February, when the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals unfolded, trimming the competition down to the final two powerhouses – Champion Super Kings and Eloquent Orators. In the Semi-Finals, 4 adjudicators moved forward, and from there, 3 adjudicators made it to the Final Round. The grand culmination of the league took place on 27th February.
The Valedictory Ceremony began with a felicitation ceremony for the esteemed guests, including the Head and Dean of the School of Law and Governance, Prof. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Faculty Coordinator Dr. Pallavi Singh, and other respected faculty members. The chief guest of the ceremony was Dr. Anima Verma, MBBS, MD, Medical Consultant, and Doctor at ANMMCH Gaya, who added prestige to the occasion with her presence. Prof. Dr. Ashok Kumar, in his address, lauded the participants for their intellectual rigor, sportsmanship, and dedication throughout the tournament. He congratulated and inspired all participants with his words of encouragement. Following this, Dr. Pallavi Singh took the stage to commend the efforts of the organizing team, adjudicators, team owners, and participants. She provided a glimpse of the journey, emphasizing the role of such leagues in fostering critical thinking and public speaking skills. Dr. Anima Verma then took the stage and delivered an inspiring speech, appreciating the efforts of all the participants, organizers, and faculty members. She remarked, "Law does not begin from books; it starts when a person begins his life. We win to gain experience, and experience takes you a long way." Her words resonated deeply with the audience, leaving them with a thought-provoking perspective on learning and growth.
The much-awaited winners’ announcement was made by the chief guest, bringing a wave of excitement among the audience. Champion Super Kings were declared the winners, receiving ₹7000, a trophy, and a Certificate of Excellence. Eloquent Orators were the runners-up, receiving ₹4500, a trophy, and a Certificate of Excellence. The semi-finalists were awarded medals, ₹1500, and Certificates of Achievement, while the quarter-finalists received medals and Certificates of Merit.
The Best Adjudicator award went to Sadhna Parashar, who received ₹3000, a trophy, and a certificate. Kumari Sugandha was recognized as the 2nd Best Adjudicator, receiving ₹2000, while Aditi Raj secured the 3rd Best Adjudicator award, receiving ₹1500. The Best Speaker (Male) was Himanshu Katayan, and the Best Speaker (Female) was Kajal, both receiving ₹2000, a trophy, and a certificate. Certificates of Participation were given to all participants as a mark of appreciation for their efforts. The organizing team was also honored with mementos as a token of appreciation for their relentless efforts in making the event a grand success.
The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks, appreciating the unwavering dedication of the organizing committee, faculty members, adjudicators, and participants.
