CUSB History department research scholar Amrit attends “To India Summer School 2025” in Italy on fellowship

Amrit Raj, a research scholar of the Department of Historical Studies and Archaeology of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), represented the University in the five-day “To India Summer School 2025” organized at the famous University of Turin, Italy. A total of 14 researchers from all over the world participated in this academic program, out of which only five researchers were given “Free Torino Scholarship” under which the facility of accommodation and food there was provided free of cost by the University of Turin. Amrit was the only researcher from Indian universities to get this scholarship and participate in the programme. He presented his views on the research topic “Legacy of Karpoori Thakur and Contemporary Politics of Bihar” in this five-day event. Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh and Registrar Prof. Narendra Kumar Rana congratulated and wished him for representing CUSB on the international platform. The Vice Chancellor said that Indian politics is unimaginable without Karpoori Thakur and his legacy, sharing his views on the world stage is a matter of pride not only for the university but for the whole of India.

On Amrit's return to the university, a felicitation ceremony was organized in which Amrit was presented a photograph of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on behalf of the department. On this academic achievement, the Head of the Department, Dr. Preeti Anil Khandare congratulated Amrit and said that this is a proud moment for the department. Other faculty members of the department, Dr. Sudhanshu Kumar Jha, Dr. Rohit Kumar and Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh also congratulated him and sent their best wishes for the future. Apart from the History Department, researchers and students from other departments were also present in the program.
Amrit is doing PhD on the topic “Role of Karpoori Thakur in the socio-economic construction of Bihar: A historical study” under the guidance of Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Historical Studies and Archaeology, CUSB. Giving detailed information, Dr. Anil Kumar said that apart from the researchers in “Two India Summer School 2025”, renowned sociologists, historians and anthropologists from all over the world also participated in this program and presented their views. Along with presenting research papers in this program, Amrit visited Turin Egyptian Museum and Vatican City Museum. He made the students of Rome University, Sapienza University of Rome, University of Florence and Zurich University, Switzerland aware of the thoughts of Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur.
