CUSB research scholar Kumar Gandharva Mishra presented a research paper in Netherlands

In the world's largest mathematics and art conference held in Netherlands, research scholar Kumar Gandharva Mishra of the Department of Teacher Education, School of Education, Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) presented a research paper on 'Expression of Indian art and culture as well as mathematical creativity through Rangoli in Vishnupad Shringar' during July 15-21, 2025. In the conference, Gandharva was invited to present on the educational relevance of Vishnupad Shringar among the art based papers selected among the participants from 40 countries across the world. On this achievement, CUSB Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, Registrar Prof. Narendra Kumar Rana, Prof. Ravikant, Dean, Education Chair and other professors of the department have congratulated and wished Gandharva.
According to tradition, every evening, Lord Vishnu's footprints (Vishnupad) are decorated with rangolis that take the form of various geometric shapes. Gandharva Mishra had done a mathematical study of these geometric shapes under the guidance of his research supervisor Dr. Tarun Kumar Tyagi and Lieutenant (Dr.) Pragya Gupta. These rangolis made at the Vishnupad temple are very perfect in geometry, which depict simple to high-level geometric features, and provide cultural and local context to the students as well as an opportunity to promote mathematical creativity in them. At the conference, Gandharva explained how this decoration is an integral part of the Indian tradition and how this research can be used educationally to enhance the geometric abilities of students, identify their level of geometric thinking and make geometry teaching interesting for the students. During the presentation of the research, Gandharva also thanked the Vishnupad Temple Management Committee and the priests who did the decoration, especially Shri Vijay Gayab, Baldev and others, who shared a lot of information and experiences related to this decoration. In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, every effort is being made to include Indian knowledge tradition and cultural aspects among the students in the curriculum, and in this context, this research and its results are very relevant.
