Foundation Day Lecture - School of Physical & Chemical Sciences by Prof. Ram Lakhan Singh
The School of Physical & Chemical Sciences of Central University of South Bihar, Gaya, organized its Foundation Day Lecture under the visionary and transformative leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, bringing together faculty members, researchers, students, and staff for an engaging academic program focused on health and societal well-being. The lecture titled “Nutraceuticals: A Step Towards Better Health” was delivered by distinguished academician Prof. Ram Lakhan Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor of Nilamber-Pitamber University, who elaborated on the growing importance of nutraceuticals, functional foods, and dietary supplements in preventive and therapeutic healthcare. He highlighted their significant role in combating lifestyle-related disorders such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and immune deficiencies, and emphasized the integration of traditional knowledge with modern scientific research for sustainable health solutions.
Welcoming the gathering, Prof. Atul Pratap Singh, Dean of the School of Physical & Chemical Sciences, expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor for his constant encouragement in promoting academic excellence and interdisciplinary initiatives, and warmly welcomed the esteemed speaker, noting that such lectures inspire innovation and research among students and scholars.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor reiterated that universities must serve as centres of knowledge creation that directly benefit society and stressed that science-driven approaches like nutraceutical research can significantly enhance quality of life through preventive healthcare, encouraging young researchers to explore emerging areas at the interface of chemistry, biology, and health sciences. He also appreciated the young students of the School for their excellent organizational skills and commendable anchoring of the program. Quoting a profound thought, he remarked, “What is not found anywhere else in the world is found in India; what is found in India is not found anywhere else in the world,” emphasizing the uniqueness of India’s knowledge systems and biodiversity.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Budhendra Singh, HoD Physics. He stated that in the present age, nutraceutical science has a significant role in providing better health to the citizens of any nation, and its demand will continue to increase day by day. He also thanked all faculty members of School of Physical & Chemical Sciences, Prof. Venktesh Singh, Prof. Amiya Priyam, Prof. Vijay Raj Singh, Dr. Jagannath Roy, Dr. Girish Chandra, Dr. Angad Kumar Singh, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, Dr. Mahender Khatravath, Dr. Mouni Roy, Dr. Akhilananda Kumar, Dr. Rohit Ranjan Shahi, Dr. Nitin Chandra, and Dr. Saptarshi Ghosh, who acted as a cohesive unit in organizing the event, and their efforts were highly appreciated. The session was well-anchored by our UG and PG students, Anmol and Shruti.
